For my parallel project I decided to make a Black Friday ad since it was a week or two after Black Friday when we started the project.

1.What new skills did you learn or what did you improve on during this unit?
I learned more about perspective art. I hadn't done any perspective art in quite a while, so it was almost like doing a new skill. Although it was challenging, it was very fun, and i got to learn a new way of doing art. 2. How has your thinking about what original art is changed? Original art is one of a kind, and the only way to do it the exact same way is to copy and paste the image. Its very hard to do the exact same thing as another artist, especially with this picture due to the different shading and lines used. I have more respect for other artists because not all techniques used in art are easy to do. 3. What challenges or successes did you have during this unit? Would you change anything you did if you could go back and re-do it? In my project, it was hard to get details exactly right. I like things to be nice and clean, and when something is out of order it makes me frustrated. There were a few times i thought oh my what did i get myself into, but in the end it turned out pretty good. One thing i would go back in change is how i added color. I debated weather to use gel pens or makers, and i felt like gel pens would be a little harder to use, so i stuck with markers, and i wish i could have gone back, because with markers it didn't look as detailed as it could have been. I would like to make two different copies and do one gel pen, and leave the other one just pencil. Part of me wished that i would have just left it how it was, because the detail and shading looked a lot better than with marker on it. But making mistakes, and wanting to go back it just a part of the learning process, and it makes you a better artist. 1. How has your understanding of Observational Art changed during this unit?
2. What exercise was the most helpful and why? 3. How do you feel about your work for the final project? Was it successful? At the beginning of the Observation unit I was unsure of what it would be like. I never really realized if i had observed anything while drawing before, because i didnt know it was such a broad term. But after doing 4 different observation projects i had a better understanding and skill of how to observe art. As I drew my shed, I realized that drawing lightly was the easiest way to go at it. When you draw lightly, it makes it easier to shade, as well as add detail and erase mistakes (since everyone makes mistakes in their art at some point in time). Once i had a sketch of the shed, i started to trace over the lines i already had to add more shading and effect to the picture. I feel great about my final project. I did something way out of the normal for me, using watercolor colored pencils and drawing a large object with lots of detail. In my eyes, i think it went very well, and i cant wait to start doing more art, using my newly learned observing method! |
